Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is designed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one e-mail address, but to look as being sent from another one, frequently with the purpose to fraud the recipient someway. If SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a specific record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide have it. The record features all the email servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an e-mail address under the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target destination. In case, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the given domain, the message will not be sent and it will be removed. When you employ this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam which seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

When you host your domain names in a website hosting account with us and we manage the emails for them, you'll be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in a section of its own where you will be able to see which domain names are already secured. For the ones which aren't, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection service and set up a number of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and even to set a rule that email messages can be sent only when your domain names have our MX records. The last choice is the most secure one, and it can be used if we handle the email addresses for your domain names and do not use a different email service provider. The newly created records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail by using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia website hosting Control Panel, that is included with all our semi-dedicated packages, provides you with a really user-friendly interface to activate the SPF security service for any domain that you host inside your new account. Several clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be allowed to send out messages from your e-mail addresses. When the emails are taken care of by us and not by some other supplier, you can increase the security level even more and benefit from an option for your outgoing e-mail messages to be sent only if your domains use our MX records. This option provides you with better control and it'll eliminate any chance of somebody counterfeiting your e-mails with the purpose of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable when only your web site is hosted on our state-of-the-art cloud website hosting platform, while your email addresses are handled by a different provider. If you are not sure what features to pick, our technical support crew will assist you 24/7.
