An Operating System is the low-level software that controls a computer system. It takes care of the way your hardware functions, the communication with peripherals including a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between the installed applications, plus the prioritization of apps when multiple ones run at the same time. Any program that is installed on a desktop or a laptop functions by sending requests to the OS for different services using an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS can be done through a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the hosting field, the OS is what controls a web hosting server and all the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also every other application such as a VOIP or a game server. In case there are virtual machines created, they employ a guest OS which is run on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS

We offer you three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs available on the market and we provide all 3 rather than just one because we realize that you may want to install some software that has specific requirements for the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there are various software packages you may install on the web server. Your OS choice will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you want to use one and for that reason we offer several Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you need a different OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you would like. In addition, we offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

If you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a broader choice for the system environment on your machine as different applications can have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a reliable and safe hosting service. Depending on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software that you'd like to run. We can also upgrade your OS routinely to keep it as risk-free as possible with our Managed Services upgrade package.
