Whois Privacy Protection, sometimes also called WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the real contact information of domain owners on WHOIS lookup web sites. Without such protection, the name, postal address and email account of any domain owner will be publicly visible. Supplying false info during the domain registration procedure or altering the authentic info at a later time will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain registrant losing his/her ownership of the domain. The policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, require that the WHOIS details must be correct and up to date all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by domain name registrars as a response to the rising concerns about potential identity theft. If the service is active, the domain name registrar’s contact information will be shown instead of the domain registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are some country-code ones that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Website Hosting

If you’ve ordered a Linux website hosting from our company and you’ve registered one or more domain names under your account, you’ll be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without any effort and to keep your personal information intact. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support this service. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you will notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” button on the right-hand side of each of your domains. Its colour will show you if a domain name is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can add Whois Privacy Protection with just a few mouse clicks. Thus, you can shield your personal details even if you haven’t activated the Whois Privacy Protection service during the web hosting account order procedure. You will be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can enable our Whois Privacy Protection service without effort. This takes just a few clicks in the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, via which you manage everything connected with your semi-dedicated account. This is the place where you can see all your registered domains and for each one of them you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon, using which you can activate, renew or deactivate the service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-specific extensions that are Whois Privacy Protection-eligible and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so that you won’t end up buying a service that we cannot provide.
